Salman Khan's Pakistani fan lands in India without passport, visa
Fauzia, alias Chanda Khan, told the police that she hails from Karachi and being an admirer of Salman Khan, she wanted to meet the Bollywood actor after paying obeisance at a mosque in New Delhi and Ajmer's Dargah Sharif.
Government Railway Police (GRP) Jalandhar on Thursday night detained a 27-year-old Pakistani woman who was found travelling in the Samjhauta Express without a passport and train ticket.
Fauzia, alias Chanda Khan, told the police that she hails from Karachi and is an admirer of Salman Khan. She wanted to meet the Bollywood actor after paying obeisance at a mosque in New Delhi and Ajmer's Dargah Sharif.
The married woman who fluently speaks Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi also said that her husband shares his name with the hero of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and that she is childless.
When questioned about her passport and visa, she said that she was travelling with her maternal uncle Rashid Khan and the documents are with him.
"I am not travelling without a passport or visa but have those. Find my uncle. My passport is with him. I am searching for him. You send me to him," Fauzia said.
The woman who confused the security personnel with contradictory statements said her uncle got down at a railway station on the pretext of buying water and did not return.
Government Railway Police (GRP) Deputy Commissioner Makhan Singh said the woman was giving conflicting answers about her travel and security agencies were grilling her.
Aboard the Samjhauta Express, its TT had asked the woman to show her ticket. But when she failed to produce it, he had informed the GRP. Acting on the complaint, the railway police stopped the train in Jalandhar where the woman was detained and later handed over to immigration authorities in Amritsar for interrogation.
The woman said she had boarded the train from Lahore but that she actually belongs to Karachi. When questioned where she was heading to, she said she was going to Delhi to visit a shrine. However, she failed to name the holy place.
Fauzia has been booked under the Foreigners Act and Indian Passport Act. She is being produced in court for seeking police remand.
Fauzia managed to enter India - that too without visa and a train ticket - at a time when security has been beefed up on the India-Pakistan border and various other places after the July 27 Dinanagar terror attack.
