After 28 years as a diner, Pando's in Scottsville has been transformed into a full-service restaurant called Greenway Grille and Bar at 2771 Scottsville Road.

Pando Vasilovski, president of the restaurant, spent the past few months updating the place. There is a new bar with brews on tap.

The menu is American, serving steaks and seafood.

It's along the way to Stokoe Farm in Scottsville for folks who are going to the fall festival to catch the festivities.

New Flaherty's

The new bar at Flaherty's at 113 Pittsford-Palmyra Road in Macedon, Wayne County, is now open.

Bill Gray's Inc. purchased the Macedon restaurant in June and has spent the past few months updating the place, said company president Dan Gray.

The new bar is now on the former dining end of the restaurant. That's to make room for more taps as the craft-beer movement has been really strong, he said.

In addition to Rohrbach's brews, Flaherty's serves Naked Dog.

Renovations to the dining side of the restaurant should be complete in about a month, Gray said.

Bill Gray's Inc. purchased only the Macedon location. The other two restaurants in Honeoye Falls and Webster remain under Flaherty ownership, Gray said.

Having been to the Macedon and Honeoye Falls sites, I can say the Flaherty's is a great casual pub restaurant with home-style food such as chili and burgers at reasonable prices.

The Artful Fairy

The Artful Fairy opens in Victor.

The Artful Fairy just opened in Victor. It is tapping into the popularity of creating fairy gardens as a hobby.

Owner Lisa McCombs, has been in the creative industry for over 25 years and owns Wax Hands Rochester, a popular attraction at Rochester festivals. She began creating and selling fairy garden supplies in the last few years and teaching people how to create them at festivals.

The retail store is dedicated to fairy gardens and magical things. The business not only has retail space, but the quaint old house on 90 E. Main St. in Victor has colorful rooms upstairs where she will host kids' parties, and art painting classes.

India House

Driving around Irondequoit, I noticed India House has opened at 1780 East Ridge Road inside the Atrium Plaza.

I've always been a fan of India House, visiting the city location on South Clinton Avenue and the Victor location on Route 96. While most people like the buffets for the variety, I prefer to order off the menu, often selecting Baingan Bharta, or eggplant with garlic and tomatoes, with naan bread.

The location in Irondequoit has seen many restaurant tenants. Most recently, before India House, there was a Vietnamese restaurant that didn't last. I've also been to a few Chinese restaurants at that site.

Here's hoping that India House is a success in Irondequoit, home to many great ethnic restaurants. Though Henrietta is closer to my home in Brighton and offers a variety of different ethnic places, I do like going to Irondequoit to dine at Polska Chata for pierogies, Monte Alban for Mexican and Shogun for hibachi.
