My wife and I have been on over 20 Carnaval Cruises and are Platinum with them. This cruise was by far the absolute worst on the Valor I have ever experienced. We have been on this ship three other times. Getting on and off the boat was by far the easiest but that is where the good ends. My bag was inspected for "contraband" and finally sent to my state room 4 hours after sailing. The contents of my bag had been so destroyed that I had to use the ships laundry service to have my clothes pressed again. Literally took everything out of my bag then just stuffed it back in.

Departing entertainment was awful. One man guitar player or a D.J. that needed more training. Whatever happened to the steel bands we used to have or least a band?? There appeared to be a total scarcity of servers around the pool. On two occasions the server took our drink order, our sign and sail card number, NEVER returned with the drinks. While in Belize we decided to just run into port, buy the per verbal gifts and return. We discovered that on "Port Days", there was no service at all on the pool deck. If you wanted a drink, self service at the bar.

The cruise director needs some direction. People gather around the pool for drinks and fun. For Carnaval, drinking is where the money is. At 2:30 in the afternoon, everything stops so we all can be bored to death watching the Cruise director on the big screen, calling it "The Afternoon Show". People just left the pool area to go their staterooms. Totally useless junk and wasted time for the "afternoon show".
