Pitt athletics to adopt script logo for 2016-17

Pitt's sports will gain a bit of uniformity in time for next year's school year, as all Panthers teams will wear the Pitt script logo.

New athletic director Scott Barnes told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Sam Werner that the athletic department will have an apparel rollout this spring, and all sports teams will be wearing the script logo on their uniforms in time for the start of the 2016-17 seasons.

The football team had brought back the script Pitt helmets last October, but there was some inconsistency as to whether that would replace the block Pitt logo full-time.

"If you could ever be half-pregnant, we were," Barnes said, according to the newspaper.

Soon, Pitt will be out with new (block logo) and in with the old (script), a move that will likely bring joy across the fan base.

"I'm a believer that we want uniformity across all of our programs," Barnes said. "That doesn't mean that at some point we won't introduce a secondary mark. We have enough mixed messages out there, and we want to bring brand equity to the script Pitt across all that we do."
