Telstra has inked a multi-year agreement with global communications software and services provider BroadSoft to deliver services to meet the growth in mobile workers in Australia.

Under the contract, Telstra customers can connect via cloud communication and collaborate in the workplace when connected to the Internet on compatible devices.

Michelle Bendschneider, executive director, global products, Telstra, says the telco is experiencing strong growth in its UC solutions portfolio as Australian businesses of all sizes require increased productivity and collaboration tools and services needed by the increasingly mobile Australian workforce.

“Our strategic relationship with BroadSoft enables customers to implement high-powered cloud communication and collaboration tools that enhance mobility, teamwork and customer engagement in their business.”

By utilising BroadSoft technology, Bendschneider says Telstra can offer customers the opportunity to reduce hardware costs, “as everything is hosted in the cloud, while also helping businesses increase productivity”.

“Employees will be able to connect with their teams, as well as customers, from anywhere they’re connected to the Internet and at any time providing real-time connection and premium customer service.”

Telstra uses BroadSoft Business technology applications to power three major UC service offerings – IP Telephony (TIPT), DOT (Digital Office Technology) and SIP Connect.

The fully-managed IP Telephony (TIPT) offers a UC solution to medium to large enterprise customers and the DOT provides an all-in-one mobile, landline and broadband solution for small- and medium-sized businesses.

And SIP Connect allows customers to retain in-place legacy systems and to move away from legacy PSTN and ISDN services to a single converged voice and data service on the Telstra Next IP network or the national broadband network.

Jonathan Reid, managing director, Asia Pacific, BroadSoft, said the company shared a “very similar view of how Unified Communications will transform the market in the years ahead and drive workplace productivity”.

“We are very pleased with the expansion of our relationship with Telstra.”
