CHARLOTTE — The Washington Wizards continue their busiest stretch of the season Wednesday night, when they face the Charlotte Hornets at Time Warner Cable Arena for the second of four games in five nights.

Washington (6-5) will take the floor less than 24 hours after the Indiana Pacers scorched them for 123 points in a 17-point loss at Verizon Center. The defeat snapped the Wizards’ three-game winning streak. Indiana went 19 of 25 from three-point range (73.1 percent), setting an NBA record for highest three-point percentage for a team that shoots at least 25 threes. The Wizards’ 21 turnovers – eight from point guard John Wall — sure didn’t help.

Like the Pacers, the Hornets (8-6) have undergone a significant makeover. They also primarily use small-ball lineups now and the change has produced a drastic difference offensively. Charlotte ranks fourth in the NBA efficiency (105.5 points per 100 possessions) after ranking 28th last season (97.6). They’re doing it with more spacing by putting a three-point threat at shooting guard and shooting a lot more from deep: After ranking 24th in three-point attempts last season at 19.1, the Hornets are sixth this season at 26.6.

While the Pacers rely on wings like Paul George to score, Charlotte’s attack centers on point guard Kemba Walker and center Al Jefferson, though free-agent acquisition Nicola Batum has made an impact and is second on the team in scoring. After starting the season 0-3, the Hornets have won eight of their last 11 and are 6-1 at home.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:10. As always, the discussion thread is open in the comments section below.
