'Doctor Who' Season 9 Air Date & Spoilers: Peter Capaldi’s Cameo Explained, TV Show to Be Back In The Big Screen For Season 9 Prequel

Considered one of the special moments during the "Doctor Who" 50th special anniversary special, Peter Capaldi shared something about his previous cameo in the show. In the last San Diego Comic-Con, Capaldi's 12th Doctor was seen joining the 13 Doctors in saving Gallifrey, and the actor revealed that his cameo will be looked into further in the upcoming season.

According to Radio Times, fans are already expecting Capaldi's debut to deal with the issues surrounding the search for Gallifrey, which is the doctor's home planet. In the episode "Death in Heaven," the coordinates of the planet's location was already revealed but it was later found out that it was fake.

Capaldi said in the panel interview moderated by Erik Nagel that during the event he was already in the middle of filming episode 11 which is part of the finale this season. Fans will just have to wait and see what will happen in the upcoming season as he does not have any idea what will unfold in the season finale.

Before the premiere of "Doctor Who" for Season 9, the famous show will be appearing in the big screen for the prequel. According to Comic Book, the show will appear in movie theaters for a two-night event and it will be titled, "Doctor Who: Dark Water/Death in Heaven."

The movie will reportedly be in 3D. Meanwhile, the two-part Season 8 finale will be available in RealD 3D and Dolby Atmos sound cinemas on September 15 at 7:30 p.m.

The event will also feature a special Season 9 prequel scene and also an exclusive interview with some of the show's stars like Capaldi and Jenna Coleman. The event will be hosted by "Star Trek: Nemesis" and "Big Bang Theory" star Wil Wheaton.

"Doctor Who" Season 9 is set to air on BBC America on September 19.
