Fi Browning and Woody aren’t winning themselves many friends in EastEnders – and now they have managed to piss off hordes of viewers by doing the unthinkable and sacking Tracey the barmaid from the Queen Vic after 30 years of service.
As Sharon Mitchell and Shirley Carter repeatedly pointed out to the new and ruthless duo, Tracey is an institution but with no-one else prepared to fall on their sword, it was left to Woody to take control of the staffing problem and he reached the controversial decision.
As Tracey was called upstairs, Woody told her that they had to let her go and she burst into tears, saying that she loved her job. And as Tina wondered if Woody knew what he was doing, we reckon the Carters are going to face some serious backlash for this move.
Part of the fixtures and fittings of the legendary boozer, Tracey’s sacking will leave the community reeling and they aren’t about to take it lying down. Can they force Woody to take Tracey back on – and will she even want to go back after the way she’s been treated?
Let’s just hope The Albert snap her up – think of the punters, Vincent!
