Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-A) (NYSE: BRK-B) reported operating earnings for the fourth quarter of $4.382 billion versus $4.673 billion reported in the same quarter last year.
Net earnings attributable to Berkshire shareholders rose 15% to $6,286 per share from $5,478 per share.
At December 31, 2016, book value had increased by 10.7% since year-end 2015 to $172,108 per Class A equivalent share. Insurance float (the net liabilities we assume under insurance contracts) at December 31, 2016 was approximately $91.6 billion.
