Homicide detectives were investigating human skeletal remains that were found in Santa Clarita on Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A worker made the grim discovery around 9:40 a.m. during a cleanup of the Santa Clara Riverbed, which is located near Bouquet Canyon Road and Lowes Plaza, a sheriff’s news release stated.

The victim’s identity and a cause of death have yet to be determined. The person’s gender and age was also not known.

No further details have been released.
