Mark Citrin, the son of Citrin Cooperman co-founder Niles Citrin, reportedly slashed his father before leaping to his death from a Manhattan skyscraper in a tragic incident Wednesday.
He threw his book bag, sneakers, umbrella and other items from the window of his family’s 46th floor Upper East Side condo before leaping to his death. The 27-year-old had been working at Gallaghers Steakhouse after leaving a career in finance at Citigroup and Signature Bank.
His father co-founded Citrin Cooperman in 1979 with Joel Cooperman. He received medical attention for his wounds at Bellevue Hospital and was released.
“The Citrin Cooperman family suffered a tragic loss today with the passing of Niles Citrin’s son, Mark,” Citrin Cooperman spokesperson Laura Kucera said in an email to Accounting Today. “I know that many of you have read that Niles Citrin was injured. His injuries were minor and he is home resting. Our thoughts and prayers are with Niles and his family. In this time of unspeakable tragedy, we ask everyone to please respect the privacy of the Citrin family.”
