Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine invites businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2017, presented by Camden National Bank, Hannaford and United Insurance. More than 600 teams of bowlers will raise funds to support youth mentoring in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset and Waldo counties.

Events are held in four regions (Midcoast, Kennebec Valley, Central Maine and Penobscot County) with nights and weekend options at multiple bowling centers.

The event is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ largest fundraising event of the year, involving hundreds of people raising pledges to support youth mentoring programs. Last year’s event raised more than $286,000.

To register online, visit bbbsmidmaine.org, select a desired bowling date and time and create personal fundraising pages where supporters can make electronic donations. Bowlers can also download pledge forms to collect donations to bring to the event.

Teams that raise $500 or more will receive this year’s Go Big or Go Home T-shirts at the event. Individuals who raise $100 or more are entered into a grand prize drawing. Recognizing supporters as heroes, this year’s theme is Super Heroes and teams are invited to dress in super hero costumes.

There will be hourly bowling prizes awarded and a special recognition event for high fundraisers.

Event schedule: Midcoast: (Northport, Belfast, Rockport and Waldoboro) April 2-11; Kennebec Valley: (Skowhegan, Augusta, Hallowell) May 1-6; A special event, “Putt 4 Cass” is planned in Kennebec Valley May 20 at Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream and Mini Golf in Waterville; Central Maine: (Lewiston, Wilton, South Paris) May 11-17; Penobscot County Bowl for Kids’ Sake will be held in Bangor and Brewer in November.
