The 1700 block of West Broadway will soon be re-energized with new tenants following last year's departure of Future Shop.

The second-floor space above Pier 1 Imports, Starbucks, and Shoppers Drug Mart is going to become a Bed Bath & Beyond store.

According to the Crestwell Realty Inc. website, the U.S.-based homestyle-furnishings retailer will occupy 38,267 square feet.

Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. has a market capitalization of more than US$7 billion. As of last November, it had 1,526 stores under various names, with more than 1,000 operating as Bed Bath & Beyond outlets.

The U.S. home-furnishings retailer will move into space formerly occupied by Future Shop.

At the end of 2015, Pearle Vision and the bedding store DreamMakers each vacated their premises, which were between Starbucks and Pier 1 Imports.

It didn't take long for Tilley Endurables to take over the 2,203 square feet formerly occupied by DreamMakers.

The family-owned travel-wear and travel-accessories company will move into this space at the end of February.

Tilley Vancouver will move into 1750 West Broadway at the end of February.

Tilley Vancouver has been at 2401 Granville Street for several years.

"Our new location has the almost same amount of showroom space with a more efficient storage area, easy street access, and most importantly, there are 2 underground parking areas in our block," the company says on its website.

There are 150 dedicated retail parking stalls accessible in the lane behind the block.

In the meantime, Tilley Vancouver is holding a moving sale at the Granville store. It's offering up to 50 percent off on certain products, but not on its legendary hats.
