Country Apple Orchard is hosting a Pumpkin Festival.  The hours are from noon to 5 p.m. The festival includes hayrides to one of the many pumpkin patches, pony and train rides, face painting and a children’s barn. Country Apple Orchard is located 4.5 miles south of Sioux Falls on Minnesota Avenue.

The South Dakota State Hand Corn Picking Contest takes place on the Jim Redder Farm near Flandreau.  Registration is at 11 a.m.  The opening ceremony is at 12:15 p.m, followed by the contest.  Admission is free.  Lunch will also be served.  The contest in sponsored by the Dakota Heritage Association.

Join Native American artist and cultural historian Jerry Fogg to celebrate Native American Day during a gathering at All Souls Church in Sioux Falls.  The event called Native Soul gets underway at 10 a.m.  All Souls Church is located at 2222 S. Cliff Avenue.

Help raise money for the American Cancer Society by taking part in the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk in Sioux Falls.  Activities get underway at 12:30 p.m. at Pasley Park. The three-mile walk begins at 2 p.m.  Pasley Park is located at 2521 Southeastern Avenue.

The Brandon Valley Hockey Association is hosting a Try Hockey For Free event at SCHEELS IcePlex from 1-2 p.m.  Hockey equipment will be provided and people will be available to help on and off the ice.  You’re asked to arrive 30-minutes early to register.  The SCHEELS IcePlex is located at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls.

VFW Post 628 in Sioux Falls is hosting a Pancake Feed from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for kids.  The VFW is located at I-229 and South Minnesota Avenue.

Find your way through an 11 acre corn maze in the design of a turkey at Heartland Country Corn Maze.  Today’s hours are from noon to 5 p.m.  Admission is $7, $5 for kids, free for ages 4 and under.  The Heartland Country Corn Maze is located just southeast of Harrisburg, on Highway 11.

The two leaf drop-off sites are open in Sioux Falls.  They’re located at 1015 East Chambers Street, by the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, and at 100 North Lyon Boulevard, west of the fairgrounds.  Today’s hours are from noon to 5 p.m.  The cost is $3 a carload.
