Michigan Kroger stores hosting statewide hiring event Tuesday

Michigan residents can apply for a variety of jobs with The Kroger Co. of Michigan during open interviews scheduled for every Michigan Kroger store on Tuesday.

To make applying online even easier, Kroger has launched “mobile apply,” which allows job seekers to submit applications through their smartphones or tablet devices.

Interested candidates may apply at jobs.kroger.com and then go to any store on Aug. 9 between 3 and 8 p.m. No appointment is necessary but applicants must apply online before attending the hiring event.

“Our growth continues to create job openings across Michigan for friendly, hard-working associates who want to join our team, with many positions available on our new ClickList teams,” said Ken McClure, human resources manager for The Kroger Co. of Michigan. “Our stores are filled with incredible opportunities to advance and we offer a variety of career paths. Applying to work at our Michigan Kroger stores is easier than ever with open interviews and the ability to apply from anywhere.”

This marks the second one-day hiring event Michigan Kroger is hosting this year. The company hired 3,383 new associates during its May 14 event. Kroger plans a third hiring event in November exclusively for military veterans and their family members.

Over the last 10 years, Michigan Kroger has created more than 15,000 new jobs. This figure does not include jobs created as a result of the company’s capital investment, such as temporary construction jobs, nor does it include increases due to Kroger mergers.

On a national basis, The Kroger Co.’s total workforce grew by more than 9,000 during 2015. More than 90 percent of the new jobs are in the company’s supermarket divisions and range from full-time department heads and assistant store managers to part-time courtesy clerks and cashiers. The company hired more than 7,000 veterans in 2015, and has hired more than 35,000 veterans since 2009.
