Best Buy raises $10 million for St. Jude

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Best Buy is donating $10 million to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

In addition to the donation, the company held a Star Wars-themed coding event at the hospital.

Patients and families learned how circuits function and about basic programming concepts. There were also arts and craft activities for children.

Best Buy Director of Communications Jeff Shelman said the company is honored to assist St. Jude families in any way it can.

"The ability to help families--that are going through a tough time and they don't have to worry, they don't have to pay for their care of the child--is really special," Shelman said.

The $10.2 million raised was an all-time high for Best Buy.
