GREENSBORO, N.C. – A large tree is blocking traffic on a Greensboro road as storms moved through the area on Saturday.

Crews are working to remove the tree from the 1500 block of Rankin Road. The incident was reported at about 6 a.m. and resulted in power outages in the area.

There are nearly 900 power outages in Guilford County as of shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Duke Energy’s website.

Power is expected to be restored at about 5 p.m. There is no word on injuries.

An average of 4 to 6 inches of rain is expected across the area throughout the weekend.

Amounts will be higher near and west of Charlotte, where 8 to 10 inches is expected. The bull’s-eye for heavy rain is in South Carolina, where up to a foot is expected.
