The August bank holiday weekend is an opportunity to soak up the sun, entertain family and friends, and just to relax without the prospect of a Monday morning at work.

But if you're low on food, drink or any other last-minute supplies, ensure you aren't caught out with our handy guide to supermarket opening hours:

Tesco

Sunday 28 August: Tesco Express stores will be open from 6am until 11pm, Tesco Extra stores will be open from 11am until 4pm

Monday 29 August: Tesco Express stores will be open from 6am until 11pm, Tesco Extra stores will be open from 8am until 8pm

Sainsbury’s

Sunday 28 August: Stores will be open from 10am until 4pm, with a few exceptions

Monday 29 August: Most stores will be open from 9am until 7pm, but check online to find out if anywhere near you is affected

Asda

Sunday 28 August: Stores will be open from 10am until 4pm, with a few exceptions.

Monday 29 August: Most stores will be open from 7am until 8pm, but check online to find out if anywhere near you is affected

Morrison’s

Sunday 28 August: Opening hours will vary between stores from 10am until 4pm to 11am until 5pm

Monday 29 August: All stores will be open from 8am until 7pm

Waitrose

Sunday 28 August: All stores will be open 11am until 5pm, except for some Little Waitrose stores

Monday 29 August: All stores will be open 9am until 6pm, except for some Little Waitrose stores

Iceland

Sunday 28 August: All stores will be open from 10am until 4pm

Monday 29 August: Most stores will be open from 10am until 4pm, but check online for exceptions

Lidl

Sunday 28 August: All stores will be open from 11am until 5pm

Monday 29 August: Normal hours across all stores

Aldi

Sunday 28 August: Most stores will be open from 11am until 5pm

Monday 29 August: Most stores will be open from 8am until 10pm, but check online to find out if anywhere near you is affected
