Synergy Resources Corporation began plugging and abandoning its Pratt 29-3 oil and gas well near Weld County Road 5 and Weld County Road 4 in Erie on Friday.
Though the name is similar, it is not the same well on Encana’s Pratt site that has been dormant since December when the operator halted noisy operations, which drew complaints from nearby residents and attracted the attention of state regulators.
In an email Monday, Encana spokesman Doug Hock said, “Nothing is planned with regard to our Pratt well prior to the closing of the sale of our assets.”
Work is being performed at the Synergy well during daylight hours and is expected to be complete by Wednesday, according to an email from the town of Erie.
