TSYS plans to lease about 10,000 square feet — or half a floor — at One Atlantic Center. The office tower is home to Equifax and KPMG's innovation lab.

Financial technology giant Total System Services Inc. (NYSE:TSS) is expanding in Midtown.

The Columbus, Ga.-based global provider of payment services plans to lease about 10,000 square feet — or half a floor — at One Atlantic Center, according to a building permit filed with the city.

The space, which will employ about 30 employees over time, will be used as meeting space for TSYS clients and employees, a spokesman said.

Midtown’s central location and MARTA access to the airport make it a convenient meeting place for clients flying into Atlanta and for employees at TSYS offices in Kennesaw, Alpharetta and McDonough.

TSYS joins a platoon of fintech Goliaths — Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX), NCR Corp. (NYSE: NCR), WorldPayUS — marching into Midtown, lured by the region's burgeoning tech workforce.

One Atlantic Center, a 1 million square foot office tower, is within walking distance of research powerhouse Georgia Tech and Tech Square— an eight-block mixed-used development with startups, venture capitalists, research labs and business incubators.

Last year, KPMG LLP picked One Atlantic Center for a 200-employee innovation hub, one of four the professional services company has in the U.S. Equifax is also a major tenant in the building, having leased 100,000 square feet.
