CLEVELAND– The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating after a FirstEnergy truck was stolen on Cleveland’s east side.

It happened Wednesday while the truck was parked in front of a vacant house on Signet Avenue near East 123rd Street.

FirstEnergy spokesman Mark Durbin said the employee was walking up the driveway with a ladder when two or three kids in a Jeep pulled up. One of the juveniles jumped into the Illuminating Company vehicle and drove away.

According to Durbin, one suspect was caught by police and the Jeep was recovered. Police are still searching for the truck.

Durbin said it’s a meter service vehicle, which is a cross between a van and box truck. It says “The Illuminating Company” on the side and has license plate PGM 2655.

Cleveland police said the keys were inside.

The worker was not injured.
