Body Central, a Florida-based company founded in 1972 is closing its chain of 265 clothing stores and is terminating 2,500 employees, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Three times within the last two weeks, a parent company of a tenant at the Colonial Park Mall has announced the closing of hundreds of stores with announcements by Body Central, Debs Shops and Wet Seal.

Women's fashion discount retailer Debs Shops announced that it is closing all of its stores and is currently holding liquidation sales. Women's fashion retailer, Wet Seal has closed 338 of its stores.

Wet Seal and Body Central have closed its stores at the Colonial Park Mall while the sale at Debs Shops is expected to last for a couple of months, according to Susan Ariail, marketing director at the Colonial Park Mall.

Ariail says that the closings over the last two weeks took the mall by surprise.

"We're disappointed for the employees. We're disappointed to lose the stores," Ariail said.

Even with the two immediate closings and one future closing, it's not all bad news for the Lower Paxton Twp. Mall. A Yankee Candle Store is expected to open at the mall next month, Ariail said.
