Ruby Tuesday closes Decatur restaurant

Ruby Tuesday has closed its location in Decatur.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain confirmed the 1621 Beltline Road S.W., store shut down Jan. 10. She declined to provide additional details about why, if the company will reopen elsewhere or how many workers were affected.

Ruby Tuesday operates north Alabama stores in Athens, Madison, Huntsville, Cullman, Florence,  Muscle Shoals, Jasper, Scottsboro and Gadsden. As of Dec. 1, there were 733 Ruby Tuesdays system-wide, of which 655 were corporate-owned.

Total second-quarter 2016 revenue was $261 million, a decrease of $1.7 million from last year. The company ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $45.3 million and book debt of $231.9 million.

In November, Ruby Tuesday said it would sell eight corporate-owned Lime Fresh Mexican Grill locations to Rubio's Restaurants for $6.3 million. Lime restaurants in Birmingham and Huntsville shuttered last year.
