Leading PV energy provider, Yingli Green Energy is mulling over the opportunity to help take part in developing a solar project in Dubai.
The emirate's utility, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), is currently tendering a 100MW independent power project (IPP), which would be part of Dubai’s plan to expand its energy sources by 2030.

Evangelos Lianos, Yingli's executive director Middle East, told Reuters: “It is either we will partner with other companies together and then will submit our bid, or it might be that our strategy is we will support this project with services to the participating companies…DEWA has made it in a very structured way. When we saw that we were happy.”
Lianos also stated that the deadline for the tender is 5 July.
Yingli has ramped up its expanision plans in 2014, focusing on emerging markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Nigeria among others.
While Dubai, like the rest of the Middle East, has mostly failed to embrace solar energy so far, the emirate could potentially build up to 1,000MW of PV plant capacity as part of a plan to generate 5% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
