On today’s episode of the Zacks Friday Finish Line, Editor Maddy Johnson is joined once again by Zacks Stock Strategist Tracey Ryniec, and together, they take on this week’s biggest stories: British Prime Minister Theresa May’s decision to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, initiating Brexit.

But first, Maddy and Tracey discussed the huge multi-billion-dollar merger between Dow Chemical (DOW - Free Report) and E.I. DuPont De Nemours (DD - Free Report) receiving approval from the European Union after both companies committed to divest major portions of different businesses. The two industry giants plan to focus on agriculture, material science, and the production and sale of specialty products.

Then, the hosts looked at earnings results from two “luxury” retailers: Restoration Hardware (RH - Free Report) and Lululemon (LULU - Free Report) . While each company posted mixed results, guidance played a key factor in both reports, affecting both retailers’ stocks drastically different. How will 2017 play out for the home furnishing giant and the must-have athleisure retailer?

Finally, Maddy and Tracey covered the formal invoking of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, which is the measure necessary for Brexit to happen. This occurred on Wednesday, and from that moment, the U.K. now has two years to work out a deal for exiting the EU, though many believe it could take much longer. For the U.K., triggering Article 50 is the easy part. Negotiating its exit package—including new trading relationships, the bill it has to pay, establishing tariffs, dealing with Scotland and Ireland, etc.—will likely not be so painless.
