Big Lots closing soon in St. Cloud

Big Lots at 3320 Division St. will be closing soon, possibly by the end of the month.

Colleen Cleary, a spokeswoman for Big Lots, said the company would have no comment beyond the signage at its stores. Windows at Big Lots now display signs saying "store closing," and employees could be seen dismantling shelves as they became empty of merchandise.

The St. Cloud store, which covers about 25,000 square feet, opened in July 2000 and employed about 30 people at the time.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Big Lots is a discount retailer operating 1,495 stores in 48 states. They specialize in food, consumables, furniture and home decor, electronics and accessories.

The closest Big Lots store to St. Cloud is in Maple Grove.

Big Lots announced its third-quarter earnings on Dec. 5 and reported a loss from continuing operations of more than $3 million.
