Power expected to be restored by midnight in Troy

Outage affects Troy municipal buildings

TROY, Mich. – Roughly 3,800 DTE Energy customers in Troy remain without power after an early-morning transformer substation fire on Thursday.

All customers are expected to have power restored by midnight Friday, according to DTE.

According to the DTE outage map, the affected area is between Long Lake and Maple roads and Crooks and Rochester roads.

At the beginning of the outage, 10,000 customers were affected.

The substation is located at Big Beaver Road and Livernois Road. DTE Energy crews were still working on the fix Thursday night. The utility company said it is planning to have power restored to all by late Friday night.

"DTE Energy crews and engineers have worked throughout the day to move the electric load from the substation to nearby circuits that serve other customers. In addition, DTE will set up two portable substations, as well as diesel generators, to bring power to the remaining customers by late Friday night," the company said in a statement.

What's affected?

The Troy City Hall, the Troy Library, the Troy Community Center, the 52-4 District Court and the Troy Family Aquatic Center are closed, and they will remain closed on Friday.

The Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department and Troy Department of Public Works remain open. Free water and ice will be available at the Troy Police Department at 10 a.m. Friday.

Temporary shelter

Impacted residents can go to Woodside Bible Church, 6600 Rochester. Inquiries regarding temporary shelter can be directed to 248-879-8533.

The City of Troy has established a telephone center for non-emergency inquiries regarding the outage, 248-524-3300.
