Amid London’s booming hotel scene, the Mondrian London, opening Sept. 30, is poised to make a splashy debut – on the Thames riverfront in the increasingly trendy South Bank district.

It will reside within Sea Containers House, an office building next to Blackfriars Bridge that was originally designed in the 1970s by the American architect Warren Platner as a luxury hotel.

Offices will remain in part of the building alongside the Mondrian, the first international Mondrian for the Morgans Hotel Group, which also operates hotels in Los Angeles, New York and Miami Beach.

The hotel will begin taking reservations on July 7 for its rooms (rates from £195, about $325), each with river views and streamlined design patterned after ocean liner cabins in homage to transatlantic travel.

“When you look out of the building, it’s like you are looking out of a ship,” said Alan Philips, chief marketing officer for Morgans Hotel Group.

Social features of the hotel aim to draw guests as well as locals, including Dandelyan, a bar from the noted cocktail expert Ryan Chetiyawardana, featuring drinks inspired by wild plants of the British countryside.

The New York-based chef Seamus Mullen will run the restaurant.

The hotel will also include a separate rooftop bar, six-treatment-room spa and a 56-seat screening room, designed to attract the film community, as does the original Mondrian in West Hollywood.

“We are a hotel for creators,” Mr. Philips said.
