Warwick, Rhode Island (PRWEB) January 11, 2016

With high-profile data breaches constantly in the news, and the threat landscape evolving rapidly, cybersecurity has become a priority for leaders in both the private and public sector. Cyber threats have become so potentially dangerous to safety in the U.S. that the federal government has increasingly focused on the issue.

One government body leading the charge in this area is the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus, co-chaired by Rhode Island Representative Jim Langevin. This year, Langevin has invited Tim Hebert, President and CEO of Rhode Island-based IT services company Atrion, to attend President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address on Tuesday, January 12. Langevin extended the invite to Hebert due to their shared interest in cybersecurity and creating a more skilled workforce (Langevin also co-chairs the Career and Technical Education Caucus) in the Ocean State. Each Congressman is allowed only one guest to attend the address.

"I am incredibly honored to accept Congressman Jim Langevin's invitation to attend the upcoming Presidential State of the Union address," said Atrion CEO Tim Hebert. "The topics of cybersecurity and workforce development remain core drivers in dictating Atrion's roadmap, and it has been my pleasure working with the Congressman on these critical issues. I believe that 2016 will be a watershed moment for the state in addressing the talent gap and advancing industries, like cybersecurity. I am humbled to be able to represent the state of Rhode Island, along with Congressman Langevin, at this year's address."

As a high-touch, high-impact organization, Atrion works with customers to design and execute cybersecurity solutions and offerings which include perimeter security, compliance and information protection. The Rhode Island-based company leverages a layered approach to security that helps its clients secure their network, devices, data and users--as well as gain peace of mind.

Atrion was also recently named the No. 1 Award Winner for Innovation by Providence Business News in the "IT Services" category. The company received the award for its Apprentice program, which serves to train engineers and close the IT skills gap.

Under Hebert's direction, cybersecurity and workforce development will continue to be areas of focus for Atrion in 2016 as the company works to stay at the bleeding-edge of ever-evolving technology, continues to emphasize training and helps to keep organizations protected from threats. These goals align seamlessly with Langevin's goals for Rhode Island and the U.S.

"Cybersecurity is an issue of economic and national security, and given the complex threat landscape we face as a nation, I hope that the President will address the need for strong cyber defenses in his speech," said Langevin, a senior member of the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees. "The President has been increasingly active on cybersecurity issues, taking several executive actions to better position the United States to defend itself and our networks in cyberspace. Rhode Island is fortunate to have a strong, proactive network of cybersecurity professionals from education to the private sector, and Tim Hebert is a leading voice in this discussion."
