Five from N.J. lauded for offering Hispanic women opportunities

Five New Jersey-based companies made it on a list of 50 nationwide that are recognized as offering career advancement opportunities for Hispanic women.The Top 50 list by LATINA Style Inc. is chosen based on submitted responses from companies.

The winners in New Jersey are:

  • Johnson & Johnson, ranked 5th;
  • Prudential Financial, 6th;
  • Wyndham Worldwide, 18th;
  • Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, 19th; and
  • Merck & Co., 25th.

“Companies responding to LATINA Style‘s questionnaire are evaluated based on matters that LATINA Style magazine readers deemed as most important to them in the workplace,” the publication said in a statement. “Among the principal areas of evaluation are: the number of Latina executives, Latina retention, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, employee benefits, job retraining, affinity groups, and Hispanic relations. Evaluations for the 2016 annual report are based on 2015 data.”

Robert Bard, CEO and president, LATINA Style Inc., said: “Selecting the Top 50 companies for Latinas to work for is a difficult task. Great efforts are taken to ensure that Latinas can truly find (the) best places where to nurture their careers. Our goal is to provide the most accurate picture of what Corporate America has to offer.”

Horizon said in a statement it is the fourth consecutive year it has made it to the list.

“Horizon is committed to a maintaining a workforce that looks like the richly diverse membership we serve, and to creating a path to career development and advancement  for employees of all cultures and backgrounds,” said Alison Banks Moore, chief diversity officer at Horizon. “There is no better or more respected measurement of Horizon’s leadership in diversity for Latinas than the LATINA Style 50 Report.”
