ROCKLEDGE – The area around Barnes Boulevard in Rockledge is getting pretty crowded with cars these days.

Now it’s starting to get even busier with auto parts stores – a total of three are now open near the intersection.

AutoZone recently opened a new 5,400-square-foot store at 647 Barnes Boulevard in Rocklege. It’s the ninth AutoZone in Brevard County and the 6,333th nationwide.

It will be competing against Advance Auto Parts a few hundred yards to the east, as well as an O'Reilly Auto Parts on nearby Murrell Road that opened in May 2014.

The new AutoZone will hold a grand opening at 10 a.m. Saturday with a live jazz band, hot dogs, classic cars and representatives from the city of Rockledge.

On July 4, 1979, Auto Shack opened its first store in Forrest City, Arkansas in 1979. It has since grown to a Fortune 500 company with more than $8.1 billion in annual sales.
