A New York State assistant attorney general will give a public talk on tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities and then answer individual consumer questions on Sept. 10 at Cornell Cooperative Extension at 615 Willow Ave. in Ithaca.

At 11 a.m. Mike Danaher, New York State assistant attorney general, will discuss issues surrounding leases, security deposits, what to do about needed repairs, when and how evictions occur, and how to avoid or resolve tenant-landlord disputes. Information pertaining to the lead-based paint disclosure law will also be available.

Following the one-hour presentation, participants may consult individually with Danaher regarding specific consumer issues they have been unsuccessful resolving locally. Individuals interested in a consultation must arrive by 12:30 p.m. as Danaher will leave at 1 p.m.
