Vonage Wins New Business VoIP Patents

When it comes to the business world one of the best ways for telecommunication companies to make their living these days is via Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). This technology is only getting bigger and better as we move further into the 21st century. That communications market has branched off in a number of ways and the Business VoIP market is taking off.


Due to the competition in the business VoIP space, providers are looking to stay one step ahead by coming up with features not seen in the business world today. Vonage Holdings Corp recently underlined this. A leading provider of cloud communications services for both business and consumers gained seven new patents in the third quarter of the year.

These seven new patents are really just the tip of the iceberg, considering the firm has more than 93 patents and has another 249 patents pending. "These recent patents cover solutions that enhance the customer experience, including seamlessly integrating a business's cloud phone system with business software applications for CRM and productivity, helping to enhance efficiency and client relationships," said Vonage Chief Legal Officer Kurt Rogers in a statement about the awarded patents.

Among the patents awarded was one that is being called the "Dynamic Application Integration Associated with Telephony Communications Through Hosted VoIP PBX Using Client-Side Integration Proxy." This particular application allows for integration between a business VoIP system and third-party software applications.

This platform would allow for an application programming interface (API) that allows the software to automatically annotate call history data with the caller's full contact information and call notes. This of course makes it that much easier for users of the business VoIP service to track calls that are made, as well as track important business information automatically. That saves both time and money in the long run.
