It's all change at The Vic again on EastEnders next week as Shirley Carter decides to quit her job after overhearing a shock conversation.

Mick Carter's beloved boozer has seen several changes over the last few months, including new management from Fi Browning and the cruel sacking of legendary barmaid Tracey.

As she continues to make her mark, Fi decides it's time to tackle Shirley's bad habits head on and talks to Mick about her issues with his mother helping herself to the pub's alcohol.

That's not all though, as Fi also believes that Shirley's blunt nature is scaring away customers and would preferably like her gone – leaving Mick with a very tough decision to make.

As the stressed landlord contemplates whether he can really bring himself to sack a member of his family, the decision is taken out of his hands when Shirley overhears Mick and Fi discussing her future at The Vic.

Feeling hurt and betrayed, Shirley later tells Mick that she's quitting her bar responsibilities – but is still planning to live there. Could this cause fresh tension for the Carters?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, July 25 and Friday, July 28 on BBC One.
