Thursday 8/25 Insider Buying Report: DV, FLO

This article is more than 7 years old.

As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money.  So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.

On Monday, DeVry Education Group (DV)'s CEO, Lisa W. Wardell, made a $204,400 buy of DV, purchasing 8,000 shares at a cost of $25.55 a piece.  Investors have the opportunity to snag DV even cheaper than Wardell did, with the stock trading as low as $23.83 at last check today -- that's 6.7% below Wardell's purchase price.  DeVry Education Group is trading up about 0.1% on the day Thursday.  This purchase marks the first one filed by Wardell in the past year.

And at Flowers Foods (FLO), there was insider buying on Monday, by Director James T. Spear who bought 10,000 shares for a cost of $15.28 each, for a total investment of $152,797.  Before this latest buy, Spear made one other purchase in the past twelve months, buying $1,625 shares at a cost of $16.25 each.  Flowers Foods is trading off about 0.5% on the day Thursday.
