People packed Downtown Crossing to see the lighting of the Macy’s Christmas tree and performances by musicians from the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Santa Claus was joined by Snoopy, a children’s choir and Mayor Martin J. Walsh for the annual lighting of the tree, accompanied by cannon blasts of confetti flying onto the hundreds of people filling Summer Street. Soul singer Chrisette Michele and rock band Best Of Friends performed from the stage outside Macy’s, which also unveiled its new Christmas window displays.
