LUMBERTON — A Robeson County man charged last week with robbing a Red Springs jewelry store was charged Thursday with two armed robberies in Lumberton.

Shawn Craig Jones, 33, of the 1300 block of Jacobs Street in Lumberton, is accused of robbing the Super 8 Motel and the Dollar General store, both on Fayetteville Road, the Lumberton Police Department said in a news release.

The businesses were robbed at gunpoint about two hours apart on April 19, the release said. Surveillance video showed Jones and another man robbing the stores.

Jones also is accused of breaking into Biggs Park Mall at 2800 N. Elm St. as well as two businesses inside, the release said.

Lumberton police have charged Jones with four counts of conspiracy; three counts of second-degree kidnapping; two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen property and breaking and entering; and one count of larceny.

Bail was set at $210,000.

Jones was charged last week with the April 20 armed robbery at McNeill’s Jewelers in Red Springs.
