Hoigaard’s in St. Louis Park is exiting the patio furnishings business and HOM Furniture, based in Coon Rapids, will be acquiring its furniture division.

Hoigaard’s said it’s making additional room for summer sporting goods in response to the increased demand for water sport, bike and camping equipment.

Furniture retailing, meanwhile, is going through a national consolidation as slumping home sales have decreased overall demand. HOM Furniture has been expanding its business, acquiring Seasonal Concepts and Gabberts, including the upscale Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furnishings at the Galleria in Edina.
