The production outlook for General Motors over the coming years is a positive one, but not to such an extent that should raise any concerns about a return to the bad old days and the pursuit of volume over profit. Jonathan Storey, author of the Automotive World report "General Motors model plans and production outlook to 2019", estimates that the manufacturer will be rolling out 10.7 million light vehicles a year by 2019, up from 9.5 million last year. But what does this mean for its sales volumes and its place in the global rankings?
