Billerica teams up to post sweep; Chelmsford, GL earn multiple wins

Calvin Pellegrino won three matches by pin while splitting time at 220 pounds and 285 as Billerica swept past Greater Lawrence, 50-18, Winchester, 44-26, and Quabbin, 61-18, in a non-league quad meet.

Wrestling

Elsewhere, Chelmsford beat Dracut, 61-22, and Danvers, 48-27, and lost to MVC foe North Andover, 49-28, at a quad meet.

Billerica

Jimmy Best (113, 2 pins), Chris DeRosa (120), Jeremy Mancini (152, 2 pins), Nick Succimarra (160, 1 pin), Henri Behaeghel (195, 2 pins) and Ryan Higgins (220/285, 2 pins) earned three wins each for the Indians.

Nick Giardina (106, 1 pin) and Billy Curra (126, 1 pin) chipped in with 2 wins apiece.

Chelmsford

Patrick Hughes (106, 1 pin), Evan Goodall (138, 3 pins), Joe Vecchione (170, 1 pin) and Mike Kilmartin (182, 2 pins) were triple-winners for the Lions.

Double-winners for the Lions were Jack Stansfield (120, 2 pins), Zach Reynolds (132, 1 pin), Devon Giannino (145), Jack Flaherty (195, 1 pin) and Thomas Marshall (220, 1 pin).

Chelmsford is 14-3 overall and 5-2 in the MVC.

Greater Lowell

The Gryphons defeated Malden Catholic, 42-33, Lynn Tech, 24-6, and Triton, 54-30, and tied Whittier Tech, 36-36, at a five-team meet.

Ron Rossetti (120, 4 pins) and Zach Finch (145, 3 pins) led the way for Greater Lowell (12-4-1) with 4 wins each.

Posting 3 wins apiece were Brett Weissbach (106, 3 pins), Anthony Blatus (160, 3 pins), Donny Wilson (182, 3 pins), Daelon Rich (195, 3 pins) and Spencer Sayachack (132).

Patrick Carney (113) and David McKay (138) were double-winners.

Westford Academy

The Grey Ghosts defeated Tewksbury, 48-28, in a non-league match.

Winning by pin for Westford were Stephen Donovan (106), Nick Molinaro (120), Luke Donovan (138), Andrew Piedrahita (152), David Lizotte (160) and Cam Eldridge (170).

Ian Njihia (126), Max Chernauskas (182) and Oliver Fournier-Lemay (285) also posted wins.

Tewksbury’s winners were Dom Desisto (195, pin), Dylan Chandler (220, pin) Connor Charron (113, pin), Tim Rivers (132, pin) and Braden Hiltz (145, major decision). The Redmen have a 2-8-1 record.

Lowell

Lowell defeated Woburn, 41-29, and lost to Concord, N.H., 51-18, and Coventry, R.I., 44-39, at a non-league quad match.

Patrick Hoey (145/152, 1 pin) and Finbar Lutter (160, 2 pins) won three matches each for the Red Raiders.

Brett Coviello (120, 2 pins) and Bobby McCarthy (138, 1 pin) posted two wins apiece.

Dracut

Middies dropped matches to Chelmsford, 61-12, North Andover, 51-12, and Danvers, 27-26, at a quad meet.

Zak Lakmany (2 pins), Andrew Desmarais (1 pin), Allyn French (2 pins) and Ian Godbout (1 pin) were double-winners for Dracut.

Brian Kukulski and Devin Lambert won their matches against Danvers.

Earlier in the week, Andover bet Dracut, 37-31, in an MVC match. Coming through with wins for the Middies were Kukulski (120), Lakmany (132), Lambert (138), Ben Burguss (170), French (182), Desmarais (195) and Godbout (220).

Burlington

The Red Devils dropped three matches in a quad meet at Masconomet on Friday, losing to Masco 38-33, Arlington 48-27 and Oliver Ames 49-24.

BHS is 4-12-1 overall.

Despite the setbacks, Josh Lee (132 pounds) won three matches, two by fall, Colin Moroney (106), Sean McGillivray (145) and Dylan MacKinnon (170) all won a pair of matches.

Tyngsboro

Matt Butler was the 138 champion while helping Tyngsboro finished 11th with 64 points in the 16 team field at the Cape Cod Invitational held at Sandwich High.

The Tigers received second place finishes from Evan Rankin (106) and Josh Ducharme (120).

Shawsheen Tech

The Rams beat St. John’s Prep, 36-34, and Lincoln-Sudbury, 35-33, and lost to Springfield Central, 37-19, and Mt. Anthony (VT), 63-8, in non-league meets.

Jake Ferri (113/120) notched 4 wins to remain undefeated on the season. Ferri had 1 pin and also posted a major decision victory, 11-3, over highly-regarded Springfield Central wrestler Matt Garcia in a 120 match.

Triple-winners for Shawsheen (17-3) were Tom Strow (145, 1 pin), Nick Skierek (182), Derek Sardella (195, 3 pins) and Omar Eldaly (220).
