Global Payments To Be The First Acquirer In Canada To Roll-out OptBlue

Global Payments Inc. (GPN), a provider of payment technology services, said it would roll out the OptBlue program for American Express Card acceptance in Canada on June 24.

OptBlue offers small business merchants a single source for payment processing, pricing, underwriting, risk management, settlement, reporting, support and a consolidated statement.

With this launch, Global Payments can now provide a solution that allows merchants to accept American Express the same way as any other card brand.

"We are pleased to be the first acquirer in Canada to roll-out OptBlue, offering small business merchants an easy, convenient and affordable way to accept American Express," said René Bélanger, President, Global Payments Canada.

Bélanger added that OptBlue allows the company to provide its existing merchant clients with a full one-stop servicing solution for all major card brands and expand its network, as well as engage with small business merchants that don't currently accept American Express products.
