'Red Dead Redemption' News: Xbox One Version Backwards Compatibility: Microsoft Apologizes For Errors

Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption" was accessible for the Xbox One for a few hours last weekend and in line with the backward incompatibility, Microsoft has given its words of apology, as per latest news.

Xbox Live Programming Director Larry Hyrb, who is also known as Major Nelson, expressed his apology on Reddit for the errors on the "Red Dead Redemption" on the Xbox One, in which the game was shortly playable prior it was shut down on Feb. 7.

In a statement, Hyrb said that Microsoft tested all Xbox 360 games with their emulator to ensure a quality experience across a breadth of titles. The programming director added that due to the error, some of the games currently in test had been accidentally made available.

Xbox One owners had the chance to briefly download and play "Red Dead Redemption" if they already had its Xbox 360 version as a digital download, according to Eurogamer. As per the publication, the means to obtain the game has been shut down, but it involved searching for a friend who had opted to "follow the game." It was noted that in their profile, one could get access to the Xbox One store page and download the game.

According to Polygon, "Red Dead Redemption" stands as one of the games with popular demand since Microsoft announced that the Xbox One gains backward compatibility with Xbox 360 games at E3 2015.

Aside from "Red Dead Redemption," other game versions that had back compatibility issues included "Tekken Tag Tournament 2," "Halo Wars," "Left 4 Dead 2," "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night," and "Alan Wake's American Nightmare."

Following Microsoft's apology, the tech company is set to announce updates on the back compatibility game versions at the end of each month.
