It was bound to happen with Silas Blissett and Lindsey Butterfield being on the loose – another murder is set to rock Hollyoaks this month and, in a soap first, you will be able to access the Hollyoaks murder scene via a 360 video – and even enjoy an immersive virtual reality experience!
The launch of the video kicks off the #Hollyoaks360 series which will allow viewers unprecedented behind the scenes access to the show. The first film in the series was shot by former Hollyoaks actor, turned Brandwidth producer, Matt Littler [Max Cunningham] on Nokia’s Virtual Reality camera the Nokia OZO.
The camera records the full 360 sphere using 8 lenses, alongside 8 matched microphones for 3D audio. Viewable on YouTube the footage also allows those using a VR headset like Google Cardboard to truly experience being inside a Hollyoaks set.
And with clues littered around the Roscoe household, you may be able to uncover who is for the chop before it hits your screen.
As Lindsey seeks Silas’ help, viewers will see that the likes of Freddie, Kim, Mercedes and Joe are in the most danger – but, there’s nothing to say that they are the only potential victims.
The consequences of Silas and Lindsey teaming up will air in the week commencing Monday 16th May and by then, you may have already done your sleuthing alongside DS Thorpe.
Speaking of the brand new viewer experience, producer Bryan Kirkwood enthused: ‘I am really excited that Hollyoaks’ first use of immersive 360 filming has been in one of our biggest ever storylines. It’s so important that soaps keep on finding new ways to engage the audience across all platforms and deliver twists and surprises both on and off-screen.’
