A legal battle has broken out between Thunderbird Resorts' business unit in the Philippines and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation in a dispute over the former's casino licence.

Thunderbird Resorts Philippines operates two casinos with a total of 725 slots and 374 table positions - two of the largest gaming properties in the country.

Pagcor notified the company that it would shut its casinos unless it accepted new Authority to Operate terms, which include raising the Philippine corporation’s share of revenues form local players from 25 per cent to 40 per cent.

However, Thunderbird Resorts filed lawsuits against Pagcor in June and so a court in Manila will now decide whether the company’s licence remains legal. The court initiated a restraining order to prevent Pagcor from closing the casinos until the trial is concluded.
