Historic bank in Poinsett County sold

LEPANTO, AR (KAIT) - One of the oldest banks in Poinsett County is in the process of being sold.

According to Talk Business and Politics, First Community Bancshares of Batesville will acquire Little River Bank of Lepanto later this year.

Both bank boards on Thursday announced the deal.

Little River Bank opened in 1919 as the Bank of Keiser, but moved to Lepanto in 1934.

The bank has about $33 million in assets, according to federal regulators.

As for First Community Bank, the bank has $1.1 billion in assets with 17 locations in Arkansas and Missouri.
