BUSINESS Secretary Sajid Javid got to meet several Bromsgrove residents working at Cadbury when he officially opened a new state-of-the-art production line in Bournville.
The new addition by owners Mondelez International was installed as part of a £75million investment in the plant to make Cadbury Dairy Milk, Roses and Heroes.
Mr Javid told The Standard: “It was great to meet several Bromsgrove residents who work at Mondelez.
“Cadburys is a proud part of our West Midlands heritage and I know we will all be pleased that Mondelez is investing £75million into the production of three classics.
“I know I was certainly much more popular on arriving home with a large box of these family favourites.”
And, following his visit, we just had to ask Mr Javid what his favourite Cadbury creations were.
He told us his favourite chocolate bar was the Dairy Milk Whole Nut and his favourite Roses chocolate was the one which had become affectionately known as ‘The Purple One’ (hazelnut in caramel).
This latest investment by Mondelez will secure the next generation of chocolate manufacturing at the site and shows the American company’s dedication to chocolate production at Bournville.

“This marks an important milestone in our journey to secure the next generation of manufacturing at this iconic site.

During his visit, Mr Javid also got to see a new training facility and meet with apprentices and operators to hear about the skills, knowledge and qualifications they had been gaining.
