For most girls (or women, for that matter) our love of beauty products stems from an early memory of lingering by the vanities of our mothers and grandmothers. Nearly everyone has a memory of the exact perfume mother spritzed on before heading out to dinner or the ruby red shade of lipstick that grandmother wore every single day.

Which is why it makes so much sense that beauty brands today offer up products that play up the nostalgia of cosmetics.

However, fashion companies can play that game, too. Countless fashion designers scour vintage stores for 20th century items that can be used as inspiration for next season’s collection. One of those designers is Edie Parker’s Brett Heyman, whose range of acrylic clutches were inspired by evening bags from yore. With their customizable option and a penchant for cheeky details, Ms. Heyman’s bags have become de rigueur for the style set.

Her latest creation, made in collaboration with Aerin Lauder, just might be the most vintage looking design to date. The dove grey clutch is with inlaid with a rose, in a nod to Ms. Lauder’s Rose de Grasse fragrance. The bag also comes with a golden Rose de Grasse lipstick and matching gold comb, both of which are total throwbacks to cosmetics of a different era.

The brilliance of this vintage-centric collaboration is that Ms. Lauder has a direct tie to vintage beauty. Her claim on cosmetics heritage stems from her grandmother, the legendary Estée Lauder.
