The Stores With The Best Return Policies

Most major retailers will let you return items as long as you have a receipt, but some policies are especially customer-friendly. Money Talks News reports on the stores with the best return policies.

Nordstrom tops their list, and host Stacy Johnson says they’re the “gold standard” of retailer return policies:

They have been known to take back any item at any time, receipt or no receipt. There’s no return counter: Approach any sales associate. If you need to return something by mail, they even provide postage-paid labels.

They’re not to be confused with Nordstrom Rack, though, which still has a decent policy, but you need your receipt for a full return. Other stores that made the list:

  • Macy’s: They don’t have many stipulations on refunds or exchanges, either. If you don’t have a receipt, they’ll try to look up your order. If they still can’t prove your purchase, they’ll refund you the item’s lowest selling price within the past 180 days. They also have a 60-day trial period for mattresses.

  • Costco: They allow a full refund on anything, and Bargaineering says you don’t need a receipt. The one caveat is that electronics have to be returned within 90 days. According to Bargaineering, if you have an item that’s too big or bulky to take back to the store, you can also arrange a pickup.

  • L.L Bean: They say their products are built to last, so they’ll take them back at any time. If you don’t have a receipt, they’ll give you a gift card.

Amazon isn’t on the list, perhaps because they’re focused on brick-and-mortar stores, but it’s worth pointing out that Amazon makes it really easy to return items, too. For more stores, head to the link below.
