MITE-developed emergency mobile app bags 2nd prize
The app works wihout mobile network or Internet

An app which can be of great help during times of distress has bagged the second prize in the eighth edition of UNISYS All India Project Competition Cloud 20/20.
The app, CoDiRa Messenger is developed by students of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) Moodabidri.

The team comprising final year students of telecommunication engineering including Nikitha Chowta, Sandhya S, Nagashree T S have developed the CoDiRa Messenger.

CoDiRa Messenger is a mobile accessory and associated app, which helps to communicate without mobile network and or Internet.

This application, in particular will be of great help during distress. A simple CoDiRa messenger paired with any smart phone and similar kinds of devices in the nearby area makes a network and forwards the information.

An important feature of this technology is that the mobile can interact with another mobile without any mobile tower signal or internet connection.

In the cases of emergencies, an individual can connect with another device using the same application and get help.

Cloud 20/20 has traditionally been collaboration between Unisys and academia. This contest aims to provide engineering students across the country with a platform to offer innovative ideas around disruptive technology trends.

About 828 teams and 317 project submissions from colleges across India participated in the eight edition of Cloud 20/20. This edition focused on projects on Internet of Things, data analytics, cloud based applications, cloud computing, cloud security and the future technologies. The MITE team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1.25Lakh.
