Starz Acquires Fantasia Fest Action Thriller ‘Momentum’

After having its world premiere last night at the Fantasia International Film Festival, action-thriller “Momentum” has been picked up by Starz. The film, which marks Stephen S. Campanelli’s directorial debut, stars Olga Kurylenko (“Quantum of Solace”) and James Purefoy (“The Following”) and Morgan Freeman.
The official synopsis reads: “When Alex (Kurylenko), an infiltration expert with a secret past, accidentally reveals her identity during what should have been a routine heist, she quickly finds herself mixed up in a government conspiracy and entangled in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a master assassin (Purefoy) and his team of killers. Armed with her own set of lethal skills, Alex looks to exact revenge for her murdered friends while uncovering the truth.”
“‘Momentum’ is such a fun ride,” said Kevin Kasha, head of acquisitions for Starz. “We loved Olga’s work in ‘Magic City’ and can’t wait for audiences to see her take-no-prisoners lead performance. Stephen really delivered as a first time director. “
Producer Anton Ernst of Thaba Media also added, “Olga, James, Stephen and the entire cast and crew have made one of those action movies that challenges the nerves and keeps audiences guessing to the end. We are extremely pleased that the film has found a good home in North America with Starz.”
Starz is planning a day and date release for “Momentum” in the fall, followed by its television debut on the network in 2016.
